![]() One of Little Company of Mary's primary goals is to enhance the quality of life for individuals within the diverse communities we serve by promoting a healthy lifestyle, accessible through a variety of resources and educational opportunities. To this end, we offer the following: Classes in health, safety, prenatal and child care, and wellness are provided at different sites throughout our communities. Lectures given by physicians and other specialists are also offered. Programs of interest are available to the community, as well as local companies, clubs and associations at no cost or at reduced rates. We also collaborate with local organizations to bring Health Fairs and Screenings to many locations within our community, as well as to our own hospital campuses. These events help to build an awareness of disease prevention and risk factors, and alert participants to potential health risks that should be followed up by a physician. The Physician Directory helps to meet the needs of the community by providing the information necessary to help community members select the right doctor. Information such as office location, schooling, languages spoken and insurance acceptance can all be vital components in choosing a physician. Access to the latest information regarding health-related topics is at the fingertips of our physicians, staff and the community through our Medical Libraries andCommunity Resource Center. The Speaker's Bureau offers the services of many of our noted medical staff and other health professionals to speak at community events on a variety of health-related subjects. Little Company of Mary also works closely with local organizations on a number of collaborative projects that help us to reach beyond our hospitals' walls to better educate and serve residents within our service area. Projects such as Safer Torrance,a collaboration between the Torrance Fire Department, the Torrance Unified School District, Bishop Montgomery High School and Little Company of Mary, which has been instrumental in teaching Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills to more than 2,500 9th grade students each year since 1996, illustrate our ongoing commitment to the health and education of our communities. |
