Tanya Arvan, M.D.Doctor Arvan was born in St. Petersburg, Russia where she later graduated from medical school in 1984. After coming to the United States in 1989, she completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Doctor Arvan has been practicing medicine in the Los Angeles area ever since 1989. Doctor Arvan is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She is a third generation physician who continues her family tradition of being a caring and dedicated doctor to her patients. In fact, many doctors in the South Bay Area have chosen her to be their family physician. Doctor Arvan enjoys all aspects of primary care from adolescent to geriatric care with a special interest in prevention of obesity and women's health care issues. When Doctor Arvan is not working, she spends time with her two sons, family and friends and enjoys travel, weekend sports activities and reading. Locations: Torrance Office |

Jennifer Baars, M.D.Dr. Baars received her Bachelors Degree in History from UC Davis and went on to receive her medical degree from Tulane University. She started her residency in both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at Tulane the year Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans. She volunteered to work in University Hospital before the hurricane hit the city. After 6 days, the hospital was finally evacuated. Dr. Baars continued to care for patients in New Orleans for another year and then transferred to Banner Good Samaritan Hospital and Phoenix Children's Hospital. Beth A. Dorn, M.D.Doctor Dorn is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Doctor Dorn received her Bachelors of Arts in Microbiology from UC Santa Barbara, receiving Highest Honors and Phi Beta Kappa membership while there. She graduated from Brown Medical School, which included a year of research in reproductive endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Doctor Dorn completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Harvard's Mount Auburn Hospital. She practiced medicine in several locations prior to opening her solo practice in Manhattan Beach until joining South Bay Family Medical Group. Doctor Dorn has a special expertise in women's healthcare including management of menopause and HRT, contraception and office gynecology. She also enjoys traditional Internal Medicine treating both men and women for everything from tennis elbow and asthma to managing heart disease and diabetes. Nancy Griffith, M.D.Doctor Nancy Griffith was raised in Torrance, California. She is board certified in Family Medicine and strives to provide each of her patients with the best possible care. She pursued her undergraduate education at UCLA and attended UC Davis where she earned her medical degree. She completed her residency requirements at Riverside General Hospital. Doctor Griffith earned a Masters of Public Health in Wellness and Health Promotion from Loma Linda University. George Joseph, M.D.Doctor Joseph was born and raised just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and moved to California to complete his internship and residency in Family Practice at UCLA/Harbor General Hospital. Doctor Joseph was one of the founding partners of South Bay Family Medical Group and practiced in the South Bay area for twenty years before moving to Park City, Utah in 1996. While in Park City, Doctor Joseph practiced primary care and urgent care medicine for the past ten years. He and his wife moved back to Redondo Beach in 2006 and rejoined South Bay Family Medical Group. Doctor Joseph enjoys providing care for acute illnesses, but also believes strongly in Preventive Medicine. He and his wife have three grown children. William Kim, M.D.Doctor Kim was born in Kansas City, Missouri and has lived in Ethiopia, Africa, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia while growing up. He lives in the South Bay area and considers himself a Southern Californian. However, his love for adventure and travel took Doctor Kim to Honolulu, Hawaii where he earned his undergraduate degree at Chaminde College. He received his medical degree from St. George's University and completed his residency requirements in Internal Medicine in New Jersey. Doctor Kim is board certified in Internal Medicine with extensive Emergency Medicine experience. He is married with three children. Lee Kissel, M.D.A native of Los Angeles, Doctor Kissel graduated from USC and completed his residency in Family Practice at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. He serves as Adjunct Professor of Family Medicine at UCLA and is board certified in both Family and Sports Medicine. Doctor Kissel continues to teach resident physicians on a regular basis at the UCLA Affiliated Residency Program. He and his wife have two children. When not working or helping his children with homework, Doctor Kissel enjoys hiking, Nordic skiing and relaxing with his family. Locations: Manhattan Beach Office |

Maria Lui, M.D.Doctor Lui was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended Dartmouth College for her undergraduate degree. After earning her medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine, she returned to Southern California to complete her Family Medicine residency at Northridge Medical Center. Doctor Lui endeavors to offer the best medical care for her patients and provides such care from newborn babies to geriatric patients. When not at work, Doctor Lui is an avid sports fan, likes to travel and is very active in volleyball and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Locations: Manhattan Beach Office |
Richard Zhen Lu, M.D.Dr. Lu received his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, after which he studied molecular biology at Harvard University. He received his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 2000. He did his internship in Internal Medicine at Boston University Medical School, followed by Radiology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. He subsequently completed his Family Medicine residency at UMass Medical Center in 2007 and has a special interest in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. Prior to joining SBFMG, Dr. Lu served as an attending physician at the Medical Surgical Specialists in Naples, Florida. Dr. Lu is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Anna Basile Mellor, M.D.A California native, Doctor Anna Basile Mellor grew up in San Gabriel and completed her undergraduate degree at UC Irvine in Irvine, California. She received her medical degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. before serving her internship and residency at UCLA Medical Center. Doctor Mellor is board certified in Internal Medicine and is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to each one of her patients. Her goal is to continue her work in preventative health care and women's health issues. She is fluent in both Spanish and Italian. F. Lee Reitler, M.D.Doctor Reitler is board certified in Family Medicine and dedicated to helping each of his patients live a long, healthy life. He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, but spent most of his formative years in Colton, California. He earned his undergraduate degree at Claremont College before attending medical school at UCLA where he also served his residency. Currently a resident of Palos Verdes Estates, Doctor Reitler is married and has two grown sons. He enjoys golfing, running, playing tennis, attending the theater and participating in church activities. Danette Taylor, M.D.Doctor Taylor was born and raised in Riverside, California. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine. Doctor Taylor attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for one year of post-graduate study before earning her medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She returned to the Inland Empire to complete her residency in Family Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana. Doctor Taylor is board certified in Family Medicine, enjoys pediatrics and adolescent medicine as well as women's health issues. Scott Tong, M.D.Doctor Scott Tong is board certified in Family Medicine and his goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to each one of his patients. Though he was born in Hong Kong and raised in Taiwan and Canada, Doctor Scott Tong now calls Southern California his home. He attended UC Davis where he earned his undergraduate degree. He later attended UCLA Medical School and fulfilled his Family Medicine residency requirements at Northridge Medical Center. When he is not working, Doctor Tong enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He also enjoys traveling, jogging, weight training, attending movies and concerts, and dining out.
