Urgent Care

SBFMG has offered urgent care hours for nearly thirty years. Waiting time and cost in Emergency Rooms can be quite high. The purpose of Urgent Care is to provide convenient services for medical problems that develop after office hours on Saturdays or holidays when the medical offices are traditionally closed.

Problems appropriate for Urgent Care are those that cannot wait for the weekend or holiday to end but are unlikely to require emergency level procedures traditionally performed in an Emergency Room. While your SBFMG physician can suture a small wound, treat most infections or aid in acute worsening of chronic medical problems, they are not equipped to treat conditions like heart attacks, perform CAT scans or STAT laboratory tests. These are better suited for emergency rooms.

The providers are routine physicians who work at SBFMG or other primary care physicians who are carefully screened to work in the urgent care. Patient health records from both SBMFG locations are readily available to the doctors during urgent care hours. Details of the medical visit are entered into the permanent medical record for future reference by your regular physician.

Fees are the same as those charged during regular office hours.

Our goal for Urgent Care is to provide coordinated care with access to medical records for issues not requiring high-tech services usually needed for emergencies. As always, our goal is to meet or exceed patient expectations and give you convenient care without compromise.
