![]() Obstetrics: Having a baby is exciting and challenging. Preparation begins during pregnancy, giving you an opportunity to work with your physician to decide on the best plan for your pregnancy. Our birthing centers provide a safe and comfortable environment for the birth of your baby. Tours are available by calling (800)618-6659. Pre-birth: The Perinatal Center at Little Company of Mary Outpatient Care Center – Beach Cities is a special "before-birth" place for pregnant women or those considering pregnancy. The center provides comprehensive fetal diagnostic testing and genetic counseling. Family-centered Maternity Care: Pregnancy, birth and new parenthood are very special family events. Our hospitals encourage the involvement of the family in preparing for birth and caring for the new baby. During your stay, fathers and other family members are welcome to participate in these activities. Neonatal Intensive Care: For nearly 20 years, Little Company of Mary Hospital - Torrance has provided round-the-clock care to ill or premature infants through the community's oldest private newborn intensive care unit. If your infant has special needs that require the care of a neonatalogist, your infant's physician can arrange transfer to Little Company of Mary Hospital. Doula Services: A doula, which is Greek for "someone who mothers the mother," is a caregiver who provides support to new mothers, allowing them to rest and recover while the family is supported during those first crucial days following the baby's birth. Offered through Just Right Home Care, TenderCare Doula packages are the perfect solution for new mothers needing a little extra help. Call (310) 539-9000 for more information. Mother/Baby Home Follow-up Program: Upon returning home after discharge from the hospital, a new mother may still have questions about caring for herself or her newborn. For this reason, Little Company of Mary Home Health has created a specialized home care program called the Mother/Baby Home Follow-up Program. A nurse specializing in maternal and newborn care will visit the home (within a specified service area) to answer questions and identify potential problems. For more information, call (800) 551-9699. |
