Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

The Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation recently welcomed five new members to its Board of Trustees. The new trustees � Mark Pfeil, Carol Pacini, LCM, Jim Lester (former CEO of Little Company of Mary Health Services), Joy Leeper, Debbie Greene and Bert Centofante � were announced by Ron Guziak, president of the Little Company of Mary Foundations.

Sister Carol Pacini comes to the board after many years of distinguished service to the 30-member order of the Little Company of Mary Sisters and to Little Company of Mary Hospital. The elected Provincial Leader of her order, Sister Carol professed her final vows in 1966 and has served as a staff and supervising nurse; as a member of hospital administration in Jasper, Indiana; and as a member of the General Council in Rome and London. Sister Carol recently completed a six-year term as Chairperson of the Little Company of Mary Health Services Board of Trustees. The oldest of seven children, Sister Carol grew up in Syracuse, New York. She holds a bachelor�s degree in nursing and a master�s degree in business administration.

Retired CEO of Little Company of Mary Health Services, Jim Lester is hardly new to the LCMHF Board of Trustees, having served as an ex-officio trustee for many years. He holds a master�s degree in public health from UCLA; a BS from Loyola University, and has participated in graduate classes at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Lester began his affiliation with Little Company of Mary Hospital in 1986 when he came on board as President. He became CEO of LCMHS in 1992, stepping down in August 1999. Throughout his tenure, Lester demonstrated his belief in the value of philanthropic support to the healthcare system and to the mission of the sisters. He brings to the Board a wealth of knowledge and an extraordinary sense of direction. Lester resides in Newport Beach with his wife, Mary Lou, and is the father of four and grandfather of two.

New trustee Debbie Greene is the third member of the Greene family to serve on the LCMHF Board. (Both her father-in-law, Edward Greene, and her husband, Pat Greene, are past Board members.) Greene has served as chairman of LCMHF�s Sellabration event and as president of the Palos Verdes Tennis Club, where she currently is a board member. She also is active at St. Lawrence Martyr and is a supporter of the Hospice Foundation and the Palos Verdes Art Center. A native of Torrance, Greene graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and attended Mt. St. Mary�s College in Los Angeles. The Greenes reside in Palos Verdes Estates, and have one daughter and one grandson.

A member of the PGA tour for 24 years, Mark Pfeil is a well-known supporter of community philanthropies in Palos Verdes Estates, where he lives with his wife, Diana, and two daughters. A native of Chicago, Pfeil graduated from Palos Verdes High School and attended the University of Southern California. Pfeil has taken an active role with the LCMHF through participation in the Foundation�s annual Golf Classic, and also lends his talents to the Peninsula Committee for Childrens Hospital. His professional associations include 14 years with Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. Pfeil is the co-chairman of this year�s LCMHF Golf Classic, scheduled for May 7, 2001.

New trustee Joy Leeper is a resident of Hermosa Beach, where she and her husband John have been active in community organizations for many years. A member of Sandpipers since 1989 � serving as president, treasurer and in many other capacities � Leeper became involved with LCMHF through Sandpipers� annual �For Our Children� food and wine-tasting event. Her past experience includes development, scientific and medical administration.

Bert Centofante is carrying on a Centofante family tradition of supporting the Mission of the Little Company of Mary Sisters through the family foundation, and now, as a member of the Board of Trustees. His father, Al Centofante, served on the LCMHF Board of Trustees years and was honored as a Trustee Emeritus in 1999. Bert Centofante is the Managing Director of the Guy Buffet Collection and has served on the Finance committee of St. Lawrence Martyr Church, as well as the Education Committee of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. A graduate of Palos Verdes High School with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern California, Centofante lives in Rolling Hills with his wife, Renee, and three children.

�We are honored to welcome these outstanding new trustees to our Foundation board,� Guziak said. �They bring with them a variety of experiences, but all share a commitment to helping others in our community. We look forward to their contributions of time and talent in the coming months.�
