TORRANCE, CA � Alma Powell, wife of the Honorary Colin Powell, United States Secretary of State, will join several other thought-provoking speakers and presenters to celebrate the lives of women at the third annual Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation�s �Simple Abundance: A Day of Women�s Wellness,� on Friday, March 16, 2001 at the Torrance Marriott Hotel. As the luncheon keynote speaker, Mrs. Powell�s speech will focus on themes of family values, morals and ethics, as she draws on a lifetime of varied experience as a parent, volunteer and concerned U. S. citizen both here and abroad.
Barbara Harris, Editor-in-Chief of Shape Magazine will be the morning keynote speaker, advising women on �Connecting to the Healthy Person Within.� Other noteworthy speakers include:

�Simple Abundance: A Day of Women�s Wellness� is a full-day conference and luncheon that focuses on promoting the health and well being of women. The conference includes the two keynote speakers and two moderated panel discussions, as well as two seminar sessions in which participants can choose among a number of sessions on such topics as medical advances in women�s health, fitness and nutrition, aging and life�s changes, relationships, financial planning and nurturing a strong self-image.
All proceeds from the sold out conference benefit Little Company of Mary�s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) program, which provides compassionate and comprehensive care and treatment for sexual assault victims. This program now includes two SART Centers � both the center established at San Pedro Peninsula Hospital in 1998 and a new center that opened this month at the Little Company of Mary Women�s Wellness Center in Redondo Beach.
