Dr. Baars received her Bachelors Degree in History from UC Davis and went on to receive her medical degree from Tulane University. She started her residency in both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at Tulane the year Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans. She volunteered to work in University Hospital before the hurricane hit the city. After 6 days, the hospital was finally evacuated. Dr. Baars continued to care for patients in New Orleans for another year and then transferred to Banner Good Samaritan Hospital and Phoenix Children's Hospital. She successfully completed her residency in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
Dr. Baars grew up in Palos Verdes and spent summers as a counselor at Chadwick School. She knew from the time she was a young girl that she wanted to be a doctor and volunteering in hospitals, teaching and tutoring during her spare time affirmed her future. She knew that medicine would give her the opportunity to develop her scientific abilities while still allowing her to teach and interact with people which she enjoyed greatly. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages with particular interests in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, women's health and geriatrics.
Dr. Baars enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching college football in her free time.
